You are invited to take a look at the web based information delivery services that have been implemented at Indiana University. We have placed a web "front end" on many of our remote access services that span across several support areas. Most, but not all, of these information services reside in the current (legacy) student information processing and inquiry systems. The service is called the Indiana Student Information Transaction Environment (Insite).

This page (http://wwwreg.indiana.edu/Insite/innovation_insite.html) explains the Insite suite of services, provides a test student ID and PIN, provides a demonstration ID and Password for the Faculty/Advisor Web Advising service and a set of questions to assist you in navigating the pages. Links to Insite have been placed in the page; when invoked a new browser will be launched allowing you to move between Insite and explanation page at will.

What is Insite?

A description of Services available in Insite is available by clicking here. Insite is a set of information display and update services available via the World Wide Web. The services are organized by client categories:

Public

Access to information that is unrestricted (no authentication required). Ideal for those persons who may not currently have a relationship with the institution (e.g., potential students).

Students

Access to personal information and services that enable students to conduct business with the institution or to perform academic program/course research. This suite of services includes:

Admissions	View the status of an admission application
Advising	Access the student advising system (IUCARE)
Bursar	View your bursar account information
Change Address	Change your address
Change PIN	Change your Personal Identification Number
Course Offerings	View course offerings from Schedule of Classes
Financial Aid	View current status of your financial aid
Transcript	View your course history
Your Schedule	View your schedules and registration appointments

Faculty/Advisors

Access to restricted student information and/or tools is controlled by a user authorization profile. The user must have an IU Network ID and password as well as a unique advisor password. Currently, faculty and advisors may access the Degree Audit Advising System (IUCARE).

How is Insite used?

By the Public....

To use the "Public" Course Offerings (Schedule of Classes), click on the Course Offerings link, then select a campus. As an example, use the Course Offerings service to answer the following questions:

Are there any available seats in Physics P310 for First Semester 1998-99 on the Bloomington campus?
What is covered in this Physics course (course description, syllabus, assignments, etc.)?

By the Student...

To use the "Student" Insite Confidential suite of services, you will need to enter the following information for test student Insite Demonstration Test:

SIDN:	000000098
PIN:	9999

Click the "OK" button and the main menu should appear.

Insite provides students with a tool to view and update the information needed to pursue their academic career. As an example, use Insite to answer the following questions about Insite Demonstration Test (the student whose SIDN and PIN are provided above):

Did Insite Test get accepted to the School of Arts and Sciences?

Current Schedule

What is Insite Test's Current class schedule for First Semester 1998-99?
When are his final exams?
What is his position on the MATH M118 waitlist for First Semester 1998-99? (For a brief description of the Automated Course Exchange (ACE), click here, then click on ACE Information .)

When is his registration appointment for Second Summer Session 1998?

Course Offerings

Are there any available seats in Physics P201 for First Semester 1998-99?
What is covered in this course (course description, syllabus, assignments, etc.)?

What fees contributed to his account balance?

Financial Aid

Transcripts

What is Insite Test's overall Indiana University GPA?
How many students received an A in Fine Arts (FINA A231) during First Semester 1997 - 98? (Use the Grade Distribution link at the bottom of the page - select the semester and enter the department and course. For more information about the Grade Context Transcript click here. Then click on the Context Transcripts link in the upper left.)

Use the GPA calculator to determine current semester GPA if the student takes two three hour courses and receives and A- and B respectively.

Advising

To use the "Faculty/Advisor" Web Advising service, you will need the following:

Webdemo may view only the records associated with Insite Test (000-00-0098).

Insite allows Faculty/Advisors to use the Degree Audit Reporting System to assist them in advising students regarding academic program requirements. As an example, use Web Advising to answer the following questions:
